Ένα «μυστηριώδες» ελληνικό αεροσκάφος το οποίο σύμφωνα με τους Τούρκους παραβίασε τον τουρκικό εναέριο χώρο την Δευτέρα πρώτη Ιουλίου, έχει αναστατώσει το τουρκικό Γενικό Επιτελείο γιατί δεν έγινε γνωστή η ταυτότητα και το είδος του κάτι που έχει προκαλέσει πολλά ερωτηματικά για το σύστημα παρακολούθησης των τουρκικών ραντάρ στην περιοχή του Αιγαίου.

Σύμφωνα με την τουρκική εφημερίδα Milliyet, η οποία επικαλείται το τουρκικό Γενικό Επιτελείο, στις 1 Ιουλίου και ώρα 8,37 λεπτά το πρωί, ένα «μυστηριώδες» ελληνικό αεροσκάφος πετώντας βορειοανατολικά της ελληνικής νήσου Χίου προχώρησε σε παραβίαση του τουρκικού εναέριου χώρου την πρώτη φορά για έξη ολόκληρα λεπτά. Το ελληνικό αεροσκάφος πλησίασε την τουρκική ακτή του Karaburnu στην απέναντι από την Χίο μικρασιατική ακτή και πολύ κοντά στην Σμύρνη, προκαλώντας τον συναγερμό στο τουρκικό Γενικό Επιτελείο καθώς δεν έγινε δυνατόν να διαπιστωθεί ο τύπος του αεροσκάφους κάτι που εξέπληξε δυσάρεστα τους Τούρκους αφήνοντας τους πολλά ερωτηματικά. Όπως αναφέρεται, αμέσως το τουρκικό Γενικό Επιτελείο έστειλε σήμα στο τουρκικό υπουργείο Εξωτερικών για να προβεί σε διαμαρτυρία προς την ελληνική πλευρά.
Την ίδια σχεδόν ώρα ένα φουσκωτό σκάφος με ελληνική σημαία, σύμφωνα πάντα με τους τουρκικούς ισχυρισμούς, παραβίαζε τα «τουρκικά χωρικά ύδατα» στην περιοχή των Ιμίων, η οποία σύμφωνα με τους Τούρκους ανήκουν στην τουρκική πλευρά. Η μέρα όμως ήταν φαίνεται πολύ έντονη καθώς πάλι σύμφωνα με τους τουρκικούς ισχυρισμούς την ίδια ώρα στην περιοχή πέριξ της νήσου Λήμνου τα τουρκικά μαχητικά αεροσκάφη τύπου F-16 συνεπλάκησαν σε αλλεπάλληλες αερομαχίες με τα ελληνικά της ελληνικής πολεμικής αεροπορίας.
Η περιοχή ανοιχτά της Σμύρνης όπου έγινε η εμφάνιση του ανεξακρίβωτου ελληνικού αεροσκάφους θεωρείται από τους Τούρκους σαν η πιο εύφλεκτη περιοχή καθώς πολύ συχνά παρατηρούνται εμπλοκές των πλοίων της ακτοφυλακής των δυο χωρών εξ’ αιτίας του μεγάλου ρεύματος των λαθρομεταναστών που επιλέγουν την εν λόγω περιοχή για να προωθηθούν στην Ελλάδα από τις μικρασιατικές ακτές. Να σημειωθεί ότι σύμφωνα με την ίδια τουρκική εφημερίδα, στις 30 Ιουνίου έγινε κυριολεκτικά «πάρτι» πάνω από το Αιγαίο καθώς τα τουρκικά μαχητικά αεροσκάφη ενεπλάκησαν σε αλλεπάλληλες αερομαχίες στην περιοχή μεταξύ Λήμνου Λέσβου και Χίου στο βόρειο Αιγαίο.
Πάντως το τελευταίο επεισόδιο με το ανεξιχνίαστο ελληνικό μαχητικό αεροσκάφος για άλλη μια φορά καταρρίπτει τους μύθους περί της τουρκικής υπεροπλίας στο Αιγαίο και καταρρακώνει όλο αυτό το κλίμα της τουρκικής υπερδύναμης που έχει καλλιεργηθεί σκόπιμα από διάφορες ελληνικές πηγές δημιουργώντας ένα κλίμα ηττοπάθειας στην ελληνική πλευρά και εξυπηρετώντας ξένα προς τα ελληνικά συμφέροντα κέντρα.
